Certificates, Awards, and Scholarships

This social media post is not an actual certificate; however, I feel like it was a real award given to me. It encouraged me to become a teacher. I spent a lot of time either in the mornings or afternoons helping in two grade 1/2 classes. They did not need to post anything about one work experience student. I got lots of thanks and empowering words from the teachers who worked there and the students who I helped teach. They were all super sweet and it honestly made me know that I wanted to teach K-3. The energy, joy of learning, and the hilarious days I would have were just amazing.

This is my forklift certification. I got this because I decided to take a semester off due to mental health and the loss of someone. I needed to get out of Kamloops and be elsewhere. I thought I would take the whole year off but my drive for learning was growing stronger and stronger everyday that I was away. I was stuck pulling and stacking tires at a new tire warehouse in Kelowna and this made me realize I don’t want to do that the rest of my life. The people there were mainly people who didn’t want to be working there the rest of their lives but couldn’t do anything other than that. They encouraged me to go back to school too because I was a “kid full of potential who shouldn’t be stuck here.” I feel very blessed by those lovely people every time I see that certification.

This is an assortment of scholarships, bursaries, and my high school diploma. I applied for all the scholarships and bursaries I was remotely able to qualify for. The awards I ended up getting were for my experience working with children and the youth service I did in the community. I really felt like I was on the right path after high school pursuing a degree in education. These people saw the potential I had for becoming a teacher to financially support me and I am forever grateful for that blessing. I am excited to make them proud to become the best teacher that I can possibly be.
