First Peoples Principles of Learning

The First Peoples Principles of Learning is a great asset for teachers. It allows for teachers to build upon their understanding of Indigenous ways of teaching. Through these principles of learning, teachers are guided to use these teaching practices that are extremely culturally relevant and respect full of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing. One of my favourites of these principles is, “Learning involves patience and time,” because it really emphasizes that all students learn at different paces. In a world that is so on the go, it allows for learning to focus on actually learning. I really like all of these principles, and I cannot imagine teaching without them. They build students up and guide them in a meaningful way. I am truly excited and blessed to have the First Peoples Principles of Learning in my toolkit.
