The Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action are important in the process of healing and addressing of the atrocities of residential schools. It is a step towards reconciliation with the Indigenous peoples of Canada. There are 94 calls to action. Each one addresses the many different issues that are occurring throughout Canada. Teachers should be aware of this because these are real issues that affect real people in the world. Some of these people can be students in the classroom. Through these calls to action, it paves a path forward, providing a framework that helps build proper respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples, create a trusting and safe environment, and a more equitable society.
